"I came to PSCPI real anxious and not knowing what to expect. I’d met Arlyn (who is wonderful!) but hopping into a space with a bunch of stranger interpreters felt nerve wracking. I’ve only done PSCPI online and for my needs, I found it a great balance of space for vulnerability with enough distance to help me self-regulate when talking about hard stuff. The relational trauma caused by all the horizontal violence in our field can only be healed in a community space. PSCPI is a great place to find the edges of your capacity, and work on coaxing them out a little further."

Vanessa loves interpreting, and loves getting to talk about interpreting. What we know about her is that she loves learning and supporting her colleagues in their own learning and development. Vanessa has ADHD and interpreting has been her hyper focus since 2010. She has also been beat up pretty badly by the horizontal violence in our field. A mix of following her passion, and good, old fashioned spite has taken her to where she is today!
Vanessa believes in PSCPI's “come as you are” philosophy. She tells group members, "Show up angry, show up defensive, show up insecure. Show up with no spoons, on your couch. Totally fine! We’ll love you anyway!"

Vanessa says:
"If you don’t feel like interpreter spaces are safe spaces for you, you might find a space you can handle in one of my groups. If you got here feeling like there’s no way this could be for you, I have felt that way too. If you’re neurodivergent (ADHD, Autistic, AuDHD, dyslexic, sensory processing disorder, etc), and if that’s ever made you feel like you’ll always be an outsider, hey I love outside! Let’s be outsiders together!
I’ll meet you there with sincerity, authenticity, curiosity, and a mildly unhealthy dose of social anxiety (I told you! Sincere!).
I’m here to walk you through a process that will support you in finding your own answers, and to provide a place to give and receive validation from your peers. It’s powerful stuff! I’ll see you there!"
